2019 First Quarter Review

What a fantastic first quarter we’ve had in 2019! Following the appointment of our new Producer/Director Cain, we’ve had the pleasure of working on some cracking video production projects.

Here's a still from our first shoot with Manchester Kitchen Social

We started the year by helping launch a new monthly cooking and photography event to the city. Manchester Kitchen Social, founded by Majella O’Connell of Pavlova & Cream Photography, hosts a dozen chefs who are invited to cook a variety of dishes, to be photographed by the lovely Majella. We were given lots of freedom to experiment with new filming techniques and visual concepts for the videos.

Here’s the third from the series, where we focused on the chefs themselves and their ingredients.

Coolbox also helped two local charities successfully meet their crowdfunding campaign goals. Trustees at Victoria Baths; the Grade II listed Edwardian swimming pool and Turkish Baths complex in South Manchester, asked Coolbox to produce their crowdfunding pitch film. The team were aiming to raise £10,000 to restore the beautiful stained-glass windows in the main sports hall of the building. Successful restoration will mean that the building will be one step closer to becoming sufficiently watertight. This is integral for the complex to withstand the harsh Mancunian winters, which will allow the venue to host events throughout the year.

This is a screengrab from our crowdfunding video for Victoria Baths' Amazing Glazing campaign.

Our second crowdfunding video was produced to help Buxton-based equestrian group RDA to build an indoor arena which will improve the outcome for disabled children and adults having riding therapy by keeping warm and dry during the cold winter months. Again, RDA smashed their goal of raising £5,000 for the project, and have since introduced a stretch target of £10,000.

Here's a still from our crowdfunding video for RDA, a charity that introduces disabled people to horse riding.

So many great projects in a few short months, and the fun doesn’t seem to be stopping there! We’re lucky to be working on some fab new video content with Manchester-based companies We Are Creation, who are experts in brand activation for the drinks industry, and Placemarque, an environmental design and communication company who specialise in wayfinding strategies and bespoke environmental graphics. Further afield, we soon begin production on a series of promotional films for University of St Andrews’ Earth and Environment Sciences Department.

We can’t wait to see what the next three months have in store. Get in touch to if you’ve got a video idea you’d like to explore…
